Province, Samcheok City, and Hydrogen Companies Sign Agreement Tomorrow
Talent LNG and Daeha Plan to Relocate
Mayor Park Sang-soo: “Full Support for Incoming Companies”
Samcheok City, a leading hydrogen hub city along the East Coast, is drawing attention as companies from other regions are planning to relocate and expand by establishing factories in the Hydrogen Specialized Industrial Complex being developed in Geundeok-myeon to foster the hydrogen industry.
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Samcheok City, and companies such as PK Valve & Engineering, Talent LNG, and Daeha will sign an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) related to factory establishment, corporate relocation, and hydrogen industry promotion and support at the “2023 International Hydrogen Forum,” to be held at Sol Beach Samcheok at 12:50 PM on the 20th. These companies plan to set up factories and relocate to the Geundeok-myeon Hydrogen Specialized Industrial Complex, which Samcheok City aims to complete by the first half of 2025.
The Hydrogen Specialized Industrial Complex in Samcheok is being developed with a local extinction response fund of 15 billion KRW. It spans 139,954 square meters (with 76,815 square meters for industrial facilities) in Dongmak-ri, Geundeok-myeon. The targeted companies for this complex include those in hydrogen production, charging, storage, transportation, and hydrogen-related parts and materials industries.
PK Valve & Engineering, headquartered in Changwon, is a mid-sized company with annual sales exceeding 100 billion KRW and is Korea’s largest manufacturer and seller of industrial valves. The company holds a global market share of 80% for cryogenic valves used in LNG ships and was recognized as a World-Class Company in the valve sector by the Ministry of Industry this past August. Talent LNG, based in Busan, supplies high-pressure testing equipment, hydraulic and electric pumps, and hydraulic tools to shipyards, heavy industries, and research institutes. Talent LNG also specializes in manufacturing piping systems made of double piping and vacuum-insulated piping. The company plans to establish a liquefied hydrogen transport piping factory in Samcheok.
Mayor Park Sang-soo stated, “As attracting companies is critical to revitalizing the hydrogen industry and creating jobs, which are core pledges of my administration, we will do our best to develop the hydrogen specialized industrial complex for incoming companies. We will fully support tenant companies by establishing a liquefied hydrogen reliability center, an entrepreneurship incubation center, and a hydrogen product testbed within the complex.”
