Busan City Selects 15 Companies as ‘2024 Excellent Job-Creation Companies’

[Point Economy] The City of Busan (Mayor Park Heong-joon) and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency announced the selection of 15 companies as “2024 Excellent Job-Creation Companies” for their contributions to job creation, despite challenges like high interest rates and inflation.

Since 2010, Busan City has annually selected and supported companies that expand employment, aiming to foster a job-creation culture. With this year’s selection, a total of 291 companies have been recognized as Excellent Job-Creation Companies. Eligible companies include those in all industries, including manufacturing and services, with their headquarters and main offices located in Busan and having operated for at least three years. To qualify, companies with over 300 employees must have added at least 20 employees in the past three years (by the end of 2023). Those with 100-300 employees must have added at least 15, and companies with fewer than 100 employees must have added at least 10 employees.

The selection process began in February, with 57 candidate companies submitting applications. After document reviews, on-site evaluations, and final review committee discussions, 15 companies were chosen. The selected companies, categorized by size, include:

  • Companies with over 300 employees: Daedong Hospital (CEO Lee Kwang-jae) and PanAsia Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Soo-tae)
  • Companies with 100-300 employees: DongHwa Entec Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Dong-geon), Eco Energy Technology Institute (CEO Lee Jae-geun), and Hanjin Foods Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Young-gi)
  • Companies with fewer than 100 employees: Gameins Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Woong-gyeom), The Chef Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Tae-kyung), DI&C Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeong Choong-gyo), Bugok Stainless Co., Ltd. (CEO Hong Wan-pyo), Burim Trading Co., Ltd. (CEO Hong Hyun-pyo), Sante Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeon Hye-jeong), MT Korea Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-bae), Talent LNG Co., Ltd. (CEO Baek Joong-jin), Felix Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Myung-hee), and Hicom Co., Ltd. (CEO Oh Chang-hwan).

This year’s selected companies include eight from the manufacturing sector and seven from service and non-manufacturing sectors. The chosen companies will receive certificates and plaques, as well as a grant of 40 million KRW for improving working conditions, exemption from acquisition tax on newly acquired business properties, and deferred local tax audits. The certification is valid for three years.

The certification ceremony for the 15 selected companies will be held at 10 a.m. on the 20th in the main conference room at City Hall.

Lee Jun-seung, Deputy Mayor of Busan City, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thank you for your efforts to create and maintain jobs despite the challenging economic situation. Our city will continue to actively discover and support companies that create quality jobs and contribute to the development of the local economy, ensuring their continued growth and success.”
